Frequently asked questions

Everything readers, listeners and prospective sponsors most often ask about Quillwick.

About the service

What exactly does the Sunday Marginalia Note include?

A 60-word sponsor note placed between features in our Sunday long-read newsletter, written to match its tone. It runs across two consecutive Sunday editions and includes copywriting support and an open-rate summary afterward.

Where does Quillwick's coverage reach?

Our newsletter and podcast circulate across Bedford and the Halifax Regional Municipality, including the Bedford Basin, Sackville, Dartmouth, the Halifax peninsula and Hammonds Plains.

What format is the podcast segment recorded in?

It is a genuine three-minute conversation between our host and someone from your organisation, recorded for our weekly culture-and-city podcast and introduced on air as sponsored.

How long does a feature series partnership run?

Roughly six weeks, covering four written instalments, their companion podcast episodes and a dedicated partner page, from the first planning meeting to the closing report.

Process & scheduling

How do I start booking a placement?

Send a message through our enquiry form or call us, telling us which format interests you and roughly when you would like it to run.

What happens after my first message?

We reply to confirm the subject fits editorially beside our reporting, then agree a run date against our current schedule.

How far ahead should I book?

The newsletter note needs copy finalised the Wednesday before its first Sunday run; podcast segments are recorded about ten days ahead of release; feature partnerships begin with a planning meeting in week one of their six-week span.

What does the assessment involve?

A short conversation about your organisation, the audience you're hoping to reach and which of our three formats fits best — there is no separate paid consultation step.

Pricing & payment

What do the prices include?

Each price on our rate card is complete for that format — the run length, the support described and the closing summary. See our Payment & Refund Policy for how payments are handled if a booking changes.

What payment methods do you accept?

Invoiced payment by e-transfer or card, arranged once a booking is confirmed. Invoices are issued in Canadian dollars and reference the placement name and run date so they are easy to match against your own records.

Can I cancel a booked placement?

Yes — see our Returns Policy for windows and terms. In short, cancelling before production begins is free, and we will usually offer to reschedule rather than simply refuse a late change.

Practical

What are your working hours?

Monday – Friday, 09:30–18:00, Atlantic Time (AT) — Bedford. We are the only Atlantic Time publication in our particular corner of local media, so plan replies around that clock rather than Eastern Time.

How do I reach the team?

By email at [email protected], by phone at +1 902-832-6178, or through the form on our contact page.

Where is the newsroom located?

213-35 Bloom Lane, Bedford, NS B4B 2E6 — a short walk from the Bedford transit terminal, should you prefer to visit rather than write or call.

Do you cover news outside Bedford and HRM?

Our editorial focus stays on Bedford and the Halifax Regional Municipality — the Bedford Basin, Sackville, Dartmouth, the Halifax peninsula and Hammonds Plains — rather than provincial or national stories, which is also where our advertising audience lives.
