Three plainly priced placements across our Sunday newsletter and weekly podcast, reaching readers and listeners across Bedford and the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Placements

Each placement below is described in full — what it includes, who it tends to suit and what changes an estimate. Prices are fixed as shown; nothing here is negotiated up before booking.

The Sunday Marginalia Note

$175 CAD
Microphones set on a table ahead of a recording session

This is a 60-word sponsor note placed between features in our Sunday long-read newsletter, written to match its unhurried, reflective tone rather than dropped in as a banner. It suits bookshops, galleries, language schools and cultural festivals whose customers are already the kind of person who reads a long-read on a Sunday morning — households around the Bedford Basin, Sackville and the Halifax peninsula, among others.

The note runs across two consecutive Sunday editions, giving readers a second look if they missed the first. Copywriting support is included, so you do not need a draft ready on day one — we will shape the sixty words with you. After the second edition closes, you receive a short open-rate summary for those two sends, so you know roughly how many subscribers opened the issue your note ran in.

What's included

  • Two consecutive Sunday editions
  • 60-word note, copywriting support
  • Open-rate summary after the second edition

In Conversation Podcast Segment

$780 CAD
Podcast host speaking into a microphone during a recorded conversation

A three-minute conversational segment in our weekly culture and city podcast, in which the host speaks directly with someone from your organisation about work relevant to Basin and HRM listeners. It is clearly introduced as sponsored before it airs, and it stays a real conversation rather than a scripted read — best suited to organisations comfortable talking plainly about what they do.

We start with a short pre-interview so the host understands the shape of the conversation before recording. The segment is then edited for length and clarity, and you hear it before it is released — nothing airs without your sign-off. Thirty days after the episode goes live, we send a listen summary covering that window.

What's included

  • Pre-interview and editing
  • Your approval before release
  • 30-day listen summary
  • Clear sponsored introduction on air

Feature Series Partnership

$1,320 CAD
Journalist reviewing footage on a video camera during a shoot

Partnership credit across a four-part written feature series and its companion podcast episodes, with a sponsor introduction appearing on each instalment. This is the deeper placement, designed for institutions and established local brands that are comfortable sitting inside an editorial project rather than a single note or spot, and want their name associated with the reporting over several weeks.

The series runs roughly six weeks from first planning meeting to the closing report. We start with one or two planning meetings to agree the subject and scope, then build a dedicated partner page that sits alongside the written instalments and episodes. At the close of the series you receive a readership and listening report summarising how the series performed across both the site and the podcast.

This is priced as a single project fee, not per instalment, and is best suited to sponsors planning ahead rather than booking on short notice.

What's included

  • Four written instalments and companion episodes
  • Sponsor introduction on each instalment
  • Dedicated partner page
  • Planning meetings and a closing report
How the work goes

From enquiry to closing report

Reporter conducting an interview on location for a Quillwick story
  1. Enquiry

You tell us which format fits — newsletter note, podcast segment or feature partnership — and roughly when you'd like it to run.

  2. Editorial fit check

We confirm the subject sits comfortably beside our reporting, and outline how the sponsored framing will read to our audience.

  3. Scheduling

We agree a run date against the current editorial calendar and confirm any deadlines for copy or interview availability.

  4. Production

Copy is drafted or the segment is recorded and edited, with your review before anything publishes.

  5. Publication & handover

The placement runs on schedule, and you receive the summary or report described for that format.

Who this is for

Placements that fit different stages

New and small local businesses

A single Sunday Marginalia Note is a modest, low-commitment way to appear beside reporting your future customers already read, without a large media budget.

Service providers and makers

The podcast segment suits people comfortable speaking about their craft — tradespeople, studio owners, small manufacturers — in a genuine conversation rather than a pitch.

Institutions and established brands

The feature series partnership fits organisations planning several weeks ahead and wanting sustained presence across both the written site and the podcast.

Who this isn't for

If you need a placement within a day or two, or want copy that reads as a straight advertisement rather than an editorial note, our formats may not be the right fit.

About the prices

What the rate card includes

Every price above is complete for the placement described — it covers the format, the run length or episode count, the support named (copywriting or interview editing) and the closing summary. Nothing further is added before an invoice is sent. If a request falls outside these three shapes — a longer series, a different cadence — we will say so plainly rather than stretch one of these formats to fit; in that case we would discuss it separately before any commitment is made.
